Short description: The next break through in urban transportation will most likely be transportation by electrical Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Vehicles operation will require both battery charging and hydrogene refuelling at some landing platforms.
Market potential: According to the European DACUS research project, the need for landing platforms will be one per 3000 inhabitants. The potential is a simple extrapolation of population and the pace of expansion.
Timing: The first commercially operated eVTOL will be certified in 2023-2024. First vertiports around 2024. To syncronized with this development it is necessary to start investigate the energy supply chain.
Desired result: A prestudy of the general requirements around energy supply, safety aspects, location in network, regulatory aspects, suitable locations etc will guide the vertiport development and establishment.
