Short description: Loading/unloading process of transport vehicles is an unsolved problem in several industries. Vehicles can’t consider an active element for weight reasons alone, existing infrastructures don’t have them either. Unit for the bidirectional flow of goods in/from autonomous transport networks is needed.
Market potential: Current global potential in eCommerce parcel delivery and eGrocery. High volumes due to future network structures, therefore lowest possible cost per unit. Interface indoor/outdoor requirements.
Timing: Several research projects with concrete use cases are currently being pursued. Even without autonomous vehicles, efficient loading of the vehicles has so far largely only been solved manually.
Desired result: A scalable handling unit that is able to realistically map the necessary use cases (variants of transport containers, vehicles, infrastructures, product requirements, …) at least for one industry, preferably the food industry.
Information on challenge owner: Large company (> 3,000 staff).
Market presence of challenge owner: Global presence.
