Short description: In the biochar factory in Finland they use exess heat for central heating in the town. In Estonia in the location of our planned factory we can’t sell heat to central system. Challenge is to produce the most efficient way green electricity from the by-products gas, heat and oil.
Market potential: In the factory unutilised biomass and organic waste is converted into biochar with pyrolysis technology. Considerable amount of CO2 is bound into the biochar.
Timing: As soon as the Finland system is developed to suit Estonian conditions. Estimated start of building the factory is 10 – 12 months.
Desired result: Exess products that comes from biochar factory are high-quality pyrolysis oil, wood vinegar, gas and heat. Biochar factory should be as energy efficient as possible this means using mostly the exess products to produce green energy (electricity) to use in the factory.
Information on challenge owner: Micro SME (< 10 staff). Market presence of challenge owner: Active in one country. Keywords: Producing electricity from gas, heat and oil; Biochar factory; Pyrolysis; Green electricity; Ecological farming
