Short description: Beach area congested in summer. Need to provide access with sustainable traffic modes and demand based connections with city center (bus station, RB in the future) and hotels. Bicycle lanes available, innovative modes needed to replace cars. Streets too narrow for traditional buses.
Market potential: Pärnu resort/beach area has ca 150 000 visitors each summer (May-September). No known legal restrictions for alternative mobility solutions (i.e automated shuttles). Micro mobility already present.
Timing: Challenge owner wants to pilot alternative mobility in summer 2023. Preparations (data/route mapping/set-up/testing) can start in 2022. Future connections with Rail Baltic terminal are possible.
Desired result: The final solution is a mobility service consisting of software for end user and for local transport operator (connection) to run the service. Also suitable hardware (i.e autonomous shuttles) for the resort area with light and rested (slow) traffic. Electric vehicles are preferred solution.
